Superschools – Western Balkans School Exchange Scheme

Short Description:

Superschools is a flagship programme by RYCO aimed at fostering reconciliation and intercultural dialogue among youth in the Western Balkans. It facilitates school-to-school exchanges, enabling students and teachers to engage in collaborative projects that promote mutual understanding and regional cooperation.

Geographical Scope:
The programme operates across the six Western Balkan countries: Albania; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Kosovo; Montenegro; North Macedonia and Serbia.

Key Activities:

  • Organizing bilateral student exchanges between partnered secondary schools
  • Implementing joint projects on topics such as STEM, environment, digital innovation, art, and culture
  • Conducting capacity-building workshops for teachers and school staff
  • Hosting regional conferences and networking events to strengthen school partnerships.

Programme Highlights:

  • In the 2021/2022 school year, up to 30 bilateral exchanges were supported.
  • The programme has engaged over 1,300 students and 90 teachers in various exchange activities.
  • Special emphasis is placed on developing long-term partnerships that extend beyond individual projects.
