EU Support for Confidence Building in the Western Balkans

Short Description:


This project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP, supports confidence building and reconciliation in the Western Balkans by empowering civil society and youth to promote dialogue, trust, and understanding. It aims to foster long-term reconciliation, especially in communities affected by the conflicts of the 1990s, by enhancing local capacities for peace and promoting regional cooperation on transitional justice.

  • Interethnic dialogue and social cohesion
  • Youth engagement and peace education
  • Civil society strengthening

 

Geographical Scope:

Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia)

Key Activities:

  • Support to civil society organizations working on transitional justice and reconciliation
  • Youth-led initiatives on peace and dialogue
  • Capacity building for local actors to engage in post-conflict dialogue
  • Storytelling, memorialization, and non-violent communication training
  • Public campaigns and educational workshops promoting trust and tolerance

 

Implementing Organizations:

  • Funded by the European Union
  • Implemented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with local CSOs, memorialization platforms, and youth groups
