Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS)

Short Description:

CEEPUS is a multilateral exchange program established in 1993 to promote academic mobility and cooperation among universities in Central and Eastern Europe. It facilitates student and teacher exchanges through networks of higher education institutions, aiming to enhance regional integration and academic collaboration.

Geographical Scope:
CEEPUS includes the following member countries: Albania; Austria; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Bulgaria; Croatia; Czech Republic; Hungary; Kosovo; Moldova; Montenegro; North Macedonia; Poland; Romania; Serbia; Slovakia; Slovenia.

Key Activities:

  • Facilitating student exchanges for study periods ranging from 3 to 10 months.
  • Supporting short-term student mobility for thesis work or participation in summer schools.
  • Enabling teacher exchanges for teaching assignments at partner institutions.
  • Organizing joint academic programs and collaborative research projects within established networks.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Students must have completed at least two semesters of study in their current program.
  • Applicants must be citizens of a CEEPUS member country or have equivalent status.
  • Teachers must be employed at a participating higher education institution.
  • Applications can be submitted within established networks or as “freemovers” (subject to availability).

 

Scholarship Details:

  • Scholarships cover living expenses and are provided by the host country.
  • Students are exempt from paying tuition fees at the host institution.
  • Travel costs may be covered by the home institution or through additional grants.

 

Implementing Organization:
CEEPUS is managed by the Central CEEPUS Office located in Vienna, Austria, in coordination with National CEEPUS Offices in each member country.
